Cougars announce sponsorship agreement with Seccion Amarilla

Monday Sep 10, 2007
(STOCKTON, CA. SEPTEMBER 7, 2007) – Seccion Amarilla Spanish Yellow Pages announces the sponsorship of the California Cougars for the 2007-2008 Major Indoor Soccer League season.

Seccion Amarilla is the largest Spanish directory company in the United States, reaching over 20 million Spanish speaking customers with over 60 directories throughout the United States. Its parent company, Telmex, is the leading telecommunications company in Mexico. As part of the agreement, Seccion Amarilla will receive arena signage, yearbook advertising, messaging on the Arena Video Board during home games, web site promotion and other considerations. A portion of their sponsorship will be tied to an individual player, Eduardo Velez of Tijuana, BCS. In addition to playing midfielder for the Cougars, Velez competes on the Mexican National Indoor Soccer team. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed per team policy.

Cougars Director of Business Development Wade Sherman said of the partnership, “The partnership with Seccion Amarilla is another major step forward for the Cougars. Over forty percent of the population in San Joaquin County speaks Spanish. The Cougars are committed to expanding our fan base among the Spanish speaking community of Northern California and with the support of sponsors such as Seccion Amarilla, the leading Spanish directory in print and online, we are sure to continue to expand our popularity among the Hispanic community in our market. With our Stars of Mexico exhibition planned for September 29th, featuring ‘El Matador’ Luis Hernandez and a team of Mexican outdoor legends competing against the Cougars on our home field, and the addition of the Monterrey La Raza to the MISL for the 2007-08 season, we have a lot more to offer the Hispanic community in our market than we have had in previous seasons. We are proud to welcome Seccion Amarilla to our mix of marketing partners for the upcoming season.”

“We are excited about our new partnership and welcome the California Cougars to Seccion Amarilla” said Miguel Capriles, Director of Marketing with Seccion Amarilla.
