Wednesday May 30, 2007
(Stockton Ca., May 30, 2007) – The California Cougars, members of the Major Indoor Soccer League, will play an exhibition match against their official developmental team, The Stockton Pumas, as part of the festivities planned by Big League Dreams of Manteca to celebrate the grand opening of their brand new state-of-the-art Indoor Soccer facility. After the match, players will stay for a meet and greet, pose for pictures, and sign autographs. The Cougars mascot Tom Cat will also appear.
Big League Dreams is the premier developer and operator of amateur recreational sports facilities in the country. Their Manteca location opened for baseball and softball in October of 2006. It offers youth and adult teams the opportunity to play in stadiums that replicate the look of famous ball parks such as Wrigley Field, Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Fenway Park and the Polo Grounds. On June 15, a 20,000 square foot indoor soccer pavilion will be introduced to the public, with league play scheduled to begin by June 18th.
Cougars Director of Business Development Wade Sherman said, “As California’s only professional indoor soccer team, we are thrilled to see a facility of this caliber open up right in our backyard. Soccer enthusiasts in our community will be treated to a first-class playing experience at Big League Dreams. After seeing the effort that went into creating the facility, we expect them to be at full capacity for league signups very soon. This can only increase interest in indoor soccer throughout the region, which in turn will stimulate interest in the Cougars, who play the sport at its highest level. We were thrilled to be asked to help celebrate the grand opening with them.”
Big League Dreams General Manager Ed Farmer said, “Big League Dreams is known for its replicas of famous major league stadiums, with softball and baseball players playing on the finest fields in Northern California. Now the soccer players in the community will have a chance to play in the finest indoor soccer facility in Northern California”
