California Defeats Stars of Mexico 20-18

Saturday Feb 10, 2007
The California Cougars hosted Luis Hernandez, Missael Espinoza and the Stars of Mexico Saturday night in front of an energized crowd of 8,052 soccer fans.

While the majority of the fans were there to root for Mexico, it was California that came out on top in the end 20-18.

It didn’t take The Stars long to get acquainted with the indoor game and it was the Legends that got it going in the first. Missael Espinoza and Luis Hernandez connected for the first two points of the match just: 53 seconds into the game.

The two teams traded goals but California on the strength of three consecutive unanswered goals in the second quarter pulled ahead to stay.

California next plays on Saturday, February 17 in Stockton against the league leading Philadelphia KiXX at 6:00 pm. For tickets call 209-373-1550.
