California's Susi Named MISL Offensive Player Of The Week

Aaron Susi ignited a frenzied celebration before 3,658 fans at the Stockton Arena in California, triggering a do-or-die restart with a game-winning assist to teammate Bernie Lilavois, as the California Cougars captured their first victory of the 2006-07 Major Indoor Soccer League season with an opening night thriller.
Susi had three assists in the 13-12 win over the Philadelphia KiXX and was additionally credited with the win as the sixth attacker as Susi had taken the field for the final minute of the game in place of starting goalkeeper Dominik Jakubek.
The 32-year-old forward and native of San Diego, is in his eighth season in the League and second with the Cougars. After scoring 16 goals and totaling 11 assists in 2005-06 with California, Susi started the 2006-07 Major Indoor Soccer League season on Sunday by playing a part in three of six goals for his club.
Susi twice assisted reigning MISL Rookie of the Year Vicente Figueroa on scores, which came 12 seconds into the second quarter and at 4:45 of the final quarter as the Cougars crept back into contention after surrendering a first half lead.
Susi’s assist on the final scoring play started with 7.2 seconds left on the clock. With Susi and midfielder John Ball lined up for the restart, Susi played the ball from right-to-left to Lilavois, who was positioned just inside the 3-point arc. Lilavois scored with five seconds left on the clock, making it 13-12. Since debuting in the 1998-99 season, Susi has 105 goals and 75 assists in 228 career regular season games.
Also honored by the MISL for their play this weekend include former Cougar Jim Larkin with Goalkeeper of the Week and Milwaukee Wave defender Troy Dusosky with MISL Defender of the Week.
