World Cup Championship Game Viewing Party at Stockton Arena

STOCKTON, Calif. (Thursday, June 29, 2006) – Calling all soccer fans. Feel like finally celebrating the 2006 FIFA World Cup the way it’s been done for decades, complete with lively, energetic, and boisterous fans, as well as live music and festivities? Here’s your chance. The City of Stockton and the California Cougars of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) are offering a free Viewing Party of the 2006 World Cup final match on Sunday, July 9, at Stockton Arena. Doors open at 10:30 am. Kick off is at 11:00 am.
Step away from your television sets and make this world championship game experience one to remember. Join fellow soccer fans and enjoy the final game of the 64-match tournament, the most-watched sporting event on the planet.
When the doors at the arena’s North Entrance (located on Fremont Street) open at 10:30 a.m., fans will be able to select their seats, meet and mingle with Cougars players, as well as fellow soccer fanatics. If you love soccer, surround yourself with others who feel the same. For those less familiar with the World Cup, and its grand stage, become immersed and get a taste of what billions of people are consumed by every four years. This is a unique chance. Again, admission is free.
At 11 a.m. the “world’s most beautiful game” will kick off for billions of fans. You, of course, will have a great seat from which you may watch all of the action on the huge video screens. Concessions will be on sale. Entertainment will be provided. The world’s champion will be crowned. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite soccer attire, be it their own team jersey, California Cougars gear, or anything that represents any of the world’s nations or soccer clubs. The more gear, the better. We want a World Cup fiesta right here in Stockton. Show your spirit on Sunday, July 9, at the Stockton Arena.

About the California Cougars
The California Cougars are a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), a single-entity organization that features a coast-to-coast presence across the United States with top soccer talent representing 31 different countries. Announced on February 28, 2004, the Cougars made their competitive debut in November, 2005, with the beginning of their first 30-game regular season. Located in Stockton, California, the California Cougars play their home games at the brand new state-of-the-art Stockton Area, an integral piece to the city’s developing waterfront district.
